Part 13: Journey to the Mountain of Woe
Continuing from the previous part, Schala tells us to save Melchior who has been sent to Mt. Woe for defying Queen Zeal.
Mt. Woe is home to many tough enemies that’ll take you down. The good news is that you are pack with many skills that can wipe them out quickly. One of the bigger concern are special enemies that have high evasion but also use Omnilock on you. Omnilock pretty much locks you out of using Items and Techs so you must rely on regular attacks. If you beat them down, you get experience and 100 Tech Points. Useful for characters that need to get better skills faster!
At the top, you face off against Giga Gaia. Focus on the arms first. If you have Ayla on your party, use the Falcon Hit dual tech to strike them both. It takes 3 to wipe away the arms. Once they’re down, focus everything on the head. Use your best Dual Techs or if you’re lucky, a Triple Tech to deal massive damage. Once the Arms come back, focus on them but it takes two Falcon Hits this time.
Once defeated, Melchior will be free and Mt. Woe will be no more. We then discover that Queen Zeal plans on using the Mammon Machine to draw out Lavos. Not a good sign. He gives us the Ruby Knife, hoping that it can stop it. Then Schala and Janus show up. Schala explains that Queen Zeal has gone mad. Even Janus doesn’t see her as his mom anymore. Dalton arrives to take Schala because Zeal needs her.
So it means one thing: we need to go after them. We return to the Zeal Palace, this time we face off against Dalton. Dalton isn’t a difficult fight. You just need to be prepared. Using Dual or Triple Techs can help. Just make sure your HP is high when he does a Burp attack after taking him down. Defeated, he’s not deterred so he heads off to the Ocean Palace.
It means that the fight is only going to get worse from here. Stay tuned in Part 14 for the Age of Antiquity comes to an end.
