Chrono Trigger: Enhansa Edition is a hack by inuksuk that rebalances things such as characters, equipment, techs, and so on to provide a harder challenge overall.

To get the patch, you'll need to join the NGPlus discord. A link to join it is located here:

Version being played: 0.4.4

Marle got sucked into a portal of some kind last time. Taban's shell shocked with Lucca theorizing the Telepod isn't to blame directly, but rather the warp field being affected somehow by her pendant.

While Lucca ponders if Marle's familiar to her at all, Crono hatches a plan. If Marle jumped off the deep end, so will he by taking Marle's pendant which she left behind, convincing Lucca enough to bring the portal out again so Crono can travel through it and find Marle.

When all's said and done, Crono comes out of the portal in a new area. It doesn't take long before a few Blue Imps come out of the woodwork and attack him for the first actual instance of combat this playthrough.

The battle system's simple enough to get a grasp of. Pick a command, target something, kick their tail. CT's battle system though lets enemies wander around and even approach their chosen target if they have melee only attacks like the Blue Imps.

Once the imps die, Crono's free to explore. There's only one other area to this new locale with a couple enemy groups, one of which I run from.

Before leaving this area, there's a pair of chests to open. One has a Tonic while the other an accessory, the Power Glove, which raises the wearer's power stat by 2. Crono equips this right away.

Upon exiting to the south, you'll find yourself on the world map, but the area's...different. Heck, even the overworld theme's changed. Talking to some of the local townsfolk reveals that this isn't the era we know, but rather 600AD.

Besides that, there's talk about someone by the name of Magus trying to wage war against Guardia whom I'm sure we'll run into at some point. The real interesting talk though comes from someone at the inn that comes walking in by the name of Toma. He mentions the queen of Guardia disappearing after going to the Cathedral west of the forest entrance. The catch? Other townsfolk claim she was found on the mountain we just came off of.

Regardless, our destination's clear...we're going to want to head to Guardia Castle and see this queen ourselves so it's to Guardia Forest once more. Nothing's changed in the forest besides where enemies pop up. You'll want to go east, then north though upon entering the forest. You'll notice a bush that's rather active. Examining it makes a monster run for its life, but drops a valuable Shelter in the process.

When Crono arrives at the castle, he's stopped by a couple guards. Shortly before being kicked out, Queen Leene herself approaches and tells the guards to let him in. She looks familiar, doesn't she?

With access to the castle, there's a few things to check out. There's a free inn down the staircase in the west, a kitchen to the east, and two staircases going up in the throne room. The one to the west leads to the king's bedroom with a Bronze Mail by the bed.

As for the other staircase? It leads to the queen's bedroom where the mistress of honor has gone to. If you talk to her, she has her attendants leave, then drops a not too surprising fact...she's Marle.

Before much else can be said, there's still some residual portal shenanigans happening and it makes Marle disappear. Crono exits stage right and, shortly before approaching the throne, runs into Lucca.

As it turns out, the reason Marle was able to fit right in was due to her striking similarity to Queen Leene. In the present timeline of 1000AD, she's known as Princess Nadia.

Long story short, the queen of 600AD was kidnapped and allegedly was to be saved by someone. Marle's introduction threw a wrench into that plan. If the queen isn't rescued quickly, it could have a ripple effect that erases Marle from history permanently. Our next task is simple...find the queen. Crono won't be alone though as Lucca joins the party.

Lucca has one nagging issue right out of the gate...her speed's a fair bit lower than Crono. Luckily, the Beret I took off Marle plus Crono's Bandana brings her speed up.

Lucca also got a minor buff where she begins the game with her first tech, Flame Toss. Costs 1 mp to hit an enemy as well as any others in a straight line from Lucca to her target.

Our destination is going to be the Cathedral west of the forest, but on the way, I get into one fight so Crono can learn his first tech, Cyclone. Costs 2 mp to hits all enemies in a range around the enemy Crono targets.

More next time!
