Chrono Trigger: Enhansa Edition is a hack by inuksuk that rebalances things such as characters, equipment, techs, and so on to provide a harder challenge overall.

To get the patch, you'll need to join the NGPlus discord. A link to join it is located here:

It's been quite awhile since we've been in the land of Chrono Trigger. Let's take another journey with a relatively new patch shall we?

The journey begins as one man with spiky red hair by the name of Crono is woken up by his mother. The Millennial Fair is ongoing at Leene Square and lord knows Crono should miss a rare once in a lifetime event, right?

Downstairs, she mentions a new invention to be shown at the fair. It's creator is a friend of Crono's, Lucca. We'll have to make haste there, but talking to Crono's mom will prompt her to hand over a 200G allowance.

After exiting Crono's house, you could go directly north to Leene Square, but there's several things to check out around the world first.

To start, enter the mayor's house southwest of Crono's home. This place serves as a beginner's hall of sorts to teach you about how the battle system works, among a few other small things. The only reason we're here though is for some loot. There's a Tonic in a chest on the first floor and 100G in a chest up the stairs.

Before leaving the second floor, talk to the old man by the chest. More tutorial stuff, but if you speak to him after hearing his lecture, he hands over 300G.

After exiting the mayor's house, you'll want to head a bit west to find an opening in a sea of trees. This leads into the scenic Guardia Forest. Nothing real special here in this two screen long area besides the option to engage in combat with the wildlife if you wish and one item to pickup. That item is a sparkle in the southeast portion of the forest, a Soda Tab.

One thing this hack does to rebalance everything is to do away with stat boosters. Soda Tabs do serve a big purpose, but that won't show up for awhile yet.

When you're done training if you decide to do so, exit the forest and head south across the bridge. Keep going south and you'll run into the Porre region. There's a shop here which you can put your funds to good use. There's a weapon upgrade for Crono as well as two other weapon types that he can't use along with some armor upgrades. All of this is fairly expensive, but I do buy a Bronze Helm. Crono doesn't equip it for reasons we'll see in a moment.

As for the rest of my funds, they go towards some basic consumables like Tonics (heals 50 hp to a target) and Heals (cures all ailments on a target).

With everything we can do checked off, it's finally time to check out Leene Square so backtrack to Crono's house and head north to enter.

Leene Square has a few shops to check out at the entrance, but the only notable one is run by weapon specialist Melchior...and even then, there's no point in grinding out the 4000G to buy Crono's Lode Sword.

Heading north into the next screen, there's a girl running around rather aimlessly...and Crono does too because the collide and hit the ground. The girl seems to drop something which you can opt to go pick up or check on the girl first before doing so.

In any case, she's happy Crono returned her prized pendant and introduces herself as Marle, daughter of Guardia Castle's king. She's come to the fair to get away from her castle life and have a little fun wandering around. Nothing wrong with that...and she gets a partner to do so with in Crono!

Marle won't be seeing any combat for awhile, but she does have an interesting helmet, the Beret. Good defense, but the real treat is the fact it grants 1 speed. Speed increasing gear isn't all that common right now...which is why I give her the weaker Bronze Helmet.

Now then, there's a bunch of minigames around the fair you can partake in. Of interest is Gato in the area to the west. Beating him up in combat gives you a small but easily farmable amount of silver points.

To advance the story, head back south to the shops and check out one of them. Upon exiting it, you're told Lucca's all setup in the north. Head that direction, then wait patiently when Marle says she wants to get some cotton candy. Once she makes her purchase, head north to find Lucca.

As it turns out, Lucca's been doing some science crafting along with her father Taban. The result today is a device called the Telepod, capable of transporting a person from one location to another. If you want, you can have Crono demo it off for the masses first. The story continues when you talk to Marle. She decides to give it a whirl herself. That's good!

The problem? Her pendant seems to have a very nasty reaction, opening up a huge time gate that sucks her into it.

More next time!
