I went with the 100% innocent route here. To do that:
1.Check on Marle first instead of the pendent.
2.Don't eat the old man's lunch the Fair
3.Save the cat before talking to the girl and then return the cat to her.
4.Wait and don't move when Marle is buying candy.
5.Don't try to sell Marle's pendant to Melchior, say NO to him.
6.At the Trial admit that you started it when asked.
Uploading this mostly to celebrate this game's 20 year Anniversary, it still holds up today.
This is the Trial Scene, really memorable and messed up. The music really makes it. This is the SNES version. While I do own the DS version I decided just to stick with this one. That and I got my IBuffalo SNES gamepad which is just like the Super NIntendo Controller so had to put it to good use.
