CiB let's Try - Blasto (PS1)
Blasto was released on March 31, 1998 for the PS1, and was developed and published by Sony themselves.
Blasto was a childhood game, and a game I desperately wanted to like, but ended up disliking quite a bit. It's not hard to see why I didn't like it much - with games like this, it's very easy to get lost or die frequently from a child's perspective, but from an adults perspective, Blasto is pretty solid.
It's definitely above-average as far as the games we've seen on PS1 are concerned, and it's definitely better than Jersey Devil, another Sony made-and-published game for PS1. I am very surprised that it was released as late as 1998 - the graphics and simple backgrounds made me believe this was a 1995 or 1996 release.
Regardless, you can do a lot worse than Blasto, when it comes to early 3D platformers - plus, Blasto is voiced by Phil Hartman - THE Phil Hartman. That's about as unexpected as anything we've seen on these Let's Try videos, and a great thing to see. Thanks for watching!
