Machine Hunter was released for the PS1 on August 31, 1997. It was developed by Eurocom (Crusin' World, War Gods, Duke Nukem 64), and published by MGM Interactive - yes, the film company (they also published 007 Nightfire, Robocop for Xbox, and Robocop for NES).

Hey, it's a Smash TV kind of game!

Unfortunately, unlike Smash TV, which is bright and vibrant, Machine Hunter suffers from early 3D graphics --- and my goodness, does everything look the same. If the camera could be pulled out a bit, or a map could be generated, I feel like it would be a lot easier, but this is a tough one to stomach.

It's hard to explain, but the controls aren't quite like Smash TV. In Smash TV, whatever face button (or face button combination) you press, you are instantly shooting in that direction. In this one, there is a bit of momentum going on, so you're not going to go from shooting straight down to straight up instantaneously.

Regardless, this game is pretty cheap, and may be worth your time if you want a co-op PS1 game you can mindlessly play. Thanks for watching!
