Soul of the Samurai was released on August 31, 1999 for the PS1. It was developed and published by Konami, who needs no introduction.

Once again, I'm delightfully surprised by this game. I was expecting a standard 2D fighting game (seriously, all the pictures on the back of the case show two characters, each with their own life bar, like a fighting game) but this is more like... Onimusha and uhhh Way of the Samurai?

I am certain we did not do this game justice in the 12 minutes we played it. The controls definitely take some getting used to, and the fighting style is really deliberate, but this is a pretty unique game that you should try out, any way you can. Thanks for watching!
