The new version, announced by Clement Lefebvre on github.com, was thus made available. It is reported that 1 file change, 1 insertion and 1 deletion are performed in the release. While expressing the happiness on behalf of the whole team and developers the release of the version, users were asked not to hesitate about the feedback of the bugs they detected regarding the new version that comes with various improvements and innovations.
Today, about five and a half months after the previous version, the launch of Cinnamon 5.2. Although it is also used in many others, the cinnamon desktop got much of its fame thanks to Linux Mint, an operating system based on Ubuntu in which a large number of users took refuge when Canonical decided to make the leap to its Unity. It has come with news for everything, such as an improved menu applet that now makes it easier for us to navigate with the keyboard in languages that are read from right to left.
Visual enhancements have also been introduced, such as symbolic icons for all applications, the ability to hide application buttons by default and when the menu is closed, or support for completing results only when the file system path entry is activated. Cinnamon 5.2 Highlights
Improved the sound applet, also in languages that are read from right to left.
The keyboard applet now shows the correct size of the icons when the panel is vertical.
Improvements to the Calendar applet, including support for the Evolution data server (GNOME).
The notifications applet now allows us to avoid showing the number of notifications in the system tray.
The grouped window list now automatically updates the application group icon each time a new window is added to the group, among other improvements.
Scrolling can now be disabled in the Workspace View applet.
Python 3.10 support in the menu editor.
Improvements in the management of covers in applications like Spotify.
The Cinnamon 5.2 Code can now be downloaded from this link, but it is best to wait for our Linux distribution to add the new packages to the official repositories. Linux Mint 20.3 will use it when its stable version arrives, a release that is scheduled for Christmas.
