Citra Canary 1244 - 32 Minutes of Hyrule Warriors Legends 4K Gameplay
4This game is an interesting case. It's infamous for having really poor performance and low enemy counts on a regular 3DS, but it runs quite well and has a much higher enemy count on a New 3DS. Currently, Citra has no New 3DS compatibility, so this means the game thinks it's running on a regular 3DS in Citra. This results in getting the lower enemy count (I assume the game has two arbitrary "modes" internally for the enemy count and boots the appropriate one for your system), but you will get a steady 30 FPS assuming your specs are good enough and you account for your specs in your settings, which puts the experience above a regular 3DS, but below a New 3DS IMO, due to the low enemy count which effects gameplay progression. The game also makes use of the extra buttons and C-Stick on a New 3DS so that's another thing to note.
Otherwise I didn't encounter any issues with the game besides a minor graphical bug where sometimes the outlines of certain objects can be seen through your characters and/or enemies. Though I didn't show it in the video, Adventure Mode and My Fairy also work as intended.
One final note - the video freezes you see in the video are not Citra freezing up, it's an OBS thing. I had to switch away from the OBS window and into the Citra window to access the touchscreen to change characters, but the OBS video recording pauses whenever I do this (but the audio still records). So just skip ahead of those parts, I may edit out these parts in the future if it comes up for me while recording other games.
Personally, I would recommend waiting for New 3DS support in Citra before playing this game, or better yet, play the Wii U version in CEMU or wait for the Nintendo Switch version to be playable in Yuzu. The Wii U version has less content but looks much nicer and even has a 60 FPS patch in CEMU, while the Nintendo Switch version has all of the content and new mechanics from Legends while having the graphics of the Wii U game.
