*Mission Guide: Iron Curtain Infiltration - Second Variation (B)*
Ahh, the second (south) variation of the sixth mission. Somehow, I am more familiar with this variation than the previous (north) one. The mission objective is exactly the same: get a spy into one of the Soviet tech centers to steal valuable information on the Iron Curtain project and level the entire base (always fun). The approach to attack the Soviet base is very similar to the other variation: black out the base by knocking out the power plants on the east side (you can use your gunboats for that). Coordinate your amphibious assault to the bay with the sub pen (center of the base) or to the west side of the base (there is a beachhead that is only guarded by a Tesla coil).
_Let's get to a point-by-point guide on how to tackle this mission!_
*Strategy Guide:*
*1. Row row row a boat...*
_You will start the mission with some units (your precious MCV, some infantry, and two gunboats). There will be some Soviet soldiers heading your way, but this should not be a problem. Move your gunboats along the bay and position them to attack the flame tower and heavy tank guarding the area._
*2. New construction options*
_Get your MCV across the river and deploy it on the adjacent island. Set up your base and some basic economy. Be sure to build some barracks early on; your base will initially be attacked by some infantry coming from a small outpost just less than half a click east of your position. I also used the tanks to block the south beachhead to prevent enemy troops from landing there. Beware that Soviet troops will still land on the west beachhead, so make sure you always have a defense force ready to engage those units._
*3. The Red Baron*
_Set up your air defenses as soon as possible to defend against incoming Yak attack aircraft! Rocket soldiers protected by field medics (strategically located in different points in the base) should do the job. Make sure to deploy (camouflaged) pillboxes throughout the base to take care of any pilots bailing out of the aircraft._
*4. Expanding your base*
_Build a war factory and start your tank production. Build a second and third ore truck to get your economy going (I found that two ore trucks might cause too much of a disruption to the credit flow). Use a small group of medium tanks to neutralize the outpost._
*5. Radar dome*
_Get a spy into the radar dome to reveal some enemy positions. Also, build a naval yard and start producing gunboats. Use the gunboats to destroy enemy submarines. Once the path to the east side of the enemy base is clear, use the gunboats to knock out the power plants (this will black out the base and those pesky Tesla coils will be offline)._
*6. World of tanks*
_Start producing tanks for an amphibious assault on the island where the enemy base is located. Capture the construction yard to set up a forward position. This will help quickly repair units and keep the initiative in the fight._
*7. The big push*
_Once on the island, get a spy into the sub pen (this will grant you a sonar pulse to reveal enemy submarines) and one of the tech centers (this will complete the first objective). From that point forward, slowly start destroying structures and eliminating enemy units on the island. Use the gunboats to finish off any remaining submarines in the area. Good luck, Commander!_
