8*Mission Guide: Protect the Chronosphere - Second Variation (B)*
We are still in Southern Germany with Albert Einstein's Chronosphere experiment. As a good scientist would do, we are performing the experiment again (which means facing new hordes of Soviet battalions). It even has the same strange island where you can capture a tech center (or radar dome from the previous mission) to get assistance from a strange gray-colored faction (I love those Apache helicopters). The objective of this mission is the same: get your reinforcements to your main base and power it up. The only thing to do in this mission is to survive the Soviet attacks and, when the timer finally reaches 0:00, ensure you have enough base power to run the experiment. Sounds easy enough? Well, let's have a look, shall we?
_The Details!_
*Strategy Guide:*
*1. We shall fight on the beaches*
_Get your destroyers in position and engage the armored column consisting of heavy tanks and rocket launchers blocking the route to your main base. Be careful when maneuvering your destroyers since they will be targeted by the rocket launchers as you approach them. Unlike in the previous level, selling the gap generators will not restore enough power to keep your radar dome online._
*2. Mine, mine, mine, mine...*
_Move your units to the main base and get it operational. Don't forget to explore the west side of the base; there are some base defenses that are still operational. Block the beachhead southeast of the base with mines to prevent enemy troops from landing. Also, start mining the road south of the base._
*3. Prepare for battle!*
_After building your production structures, create a second ore truck and start collecting precious gems south of the base. Create some base defenses (turrets and pillboxes) and start producing medium tanks. By now, the satellite should have come online, allowing you to monitor the entire map (always useful to see those waves of Soviet armor and infantry coming in!). Focus on fending off Soviet attacks, be proactive, and take care of those V2 rocket launchers first (they will initially target your base defenses, so getting them before they fire their rockets will save you a lot of misery)._
*4. Legacy of Henry Ford*
_Build a second war factory to speed up tank production. We are preparing for a frontal assault on the Soviet main base. Although destroying the Soviet base does not completely eliminate Soviet attacks (reinforcements will come from different areas), it does reduce the number of Soviet troops coming in! Keep building those tanks to prepare for the main assault._
*5. Fly in the helicopters*
_Use a landing craft to transport an engineer to the tech center on the remote island. This will call in the help of attack helicopters. Although they won't save you from large attacks, they can soften concentrations of Soviet armor._
*6. Never liked the color red...*
_Carry out an assault on the Soviet main base. Focus on the Tesla coil, construction yard, and production structures (war factory and barracks). If possible, you can target remaining structures such as the ore refineries and power plants._
*7. Last call*
_At minute 7, a large force of rocket launchers and Mammoth tanks will roll into the area. Getting them before they reach your base is paramount. If your timing is right, your initial assault force should still be there. If not, move them back into the area and make sure those rocket launchers and tanks are taken care of!_
*8. All we do now is wait*
_We have to see the clock hitting zero, though there is not much left to do (I found that I accidentally left a healing crate on the island that appears after capturing the tech center. I made it my life goal to get that crate before the mission was finished, just made it in time to get it). Good luck, Commander!_
