Command Block Survival - Creating A Particle Datapack For Builders! - Ep 177
28Today, we're serving builders by using technical knowhow to build a particle datapack that allows placing and customizing particles in the world! I'll go through the whole process and share some of the challenges along the way.

*Behind The Scenes: *
One problem I encountered was I needed to target entities that had been interacted with and then clear that interaction data. But when displaying a dialog, the whole command tick execute finishes, which meant the interaction data was cleared before the dialog ever showed up! So I was forced to distribute the delete interaction command to EVERY SINGLE VARIABLE FUNCTION. It was extremely annoying even with a separate function to run the commands. Far more messy that I usually prefer, but at least it works and guarantees it changes the entity you want to change.
If you're curious why some of the options had different colors in the dialog it's to match the colors that show up when typing the command. Also, it gives a quick visual difference between particle type and radius even though both are spread across a few different boxes. Handy!
🤣 I already updated the datapack to include an offset feature and a draw lines to feature so you don't lose your interaction entity.
Datapack Stats (after update): Longest command is 41,269, 103 variables saved on the armor stand, 59 function files, and 1 custom recipe!
Command Block Survival is a gamemode where every command has a self-imposed price. It allows crafting of certain creative mode items (the recipe is part of the price) and adds an entirely new dimension of creativity!
