Complete in Box Plays - Oxide: Room 104 - Part 1
Oxide: Room 104 was released on June 22, 2022 for all current systems (all Playstation, Xbox, PC, and Switch). It was developed and published by WildSphere, S.L., who also made Flying Soldiers, Naught, and Gigantosaurus: The Game. I am unfamiliar with anything on that list of games.
By the way, the publisher is based in Spain, which is probably why the English voices have something oh-so-off about them.
Welcome to Oxide: Room 104! This is an indie survival horror game that really has some neat premises. You're stuck in a motel, and essentially have to go room-to-room to find your way out, and uncover what exactly is going on in the motel. Each motel room is like a mini puzzle, and each puzzle presents you with another key to move forward.
Although Oxide is a short game, there are a few things that help extend the gameplay -- there are at least 3 major paths you can take through the motel to find your way out, and you can beat the game 4 different times, receiving 4 different endings.
The most unique thing about Oxide is that every time you die, you start over, but, the game and setting are different. Essentially, as you die more and more, the area becomes more Silent Hill. In this video, I show you some of the differences that happen as you die, and we will see all the dying cutscenes, as well as the worst ending.
NOTE: as mentioned in the video, the game was -not- updated on Trev's PS5, and once we took a break and quickly updated it, the game changed quite a bit. Not a huge fan of having major puzzle elements change with an update, but here we are in 2022.
In the next part, I'll take you through the game proper. Thank you for watching!
