Configuration Mode and Renaming Dudes in Shining Force 2 (Sega Genesis) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs
625There's a secret code in Shining Force II for the Sega Genesis that allows you to access a hidden Configuration Mode that contains bonus options that are very cool just like you.
When the SEGA logo appears, press Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, B. You gotta go fast like Sonic, but you'll hear a fanfare to confirm.
Now start a New Game and after naming your main character, the witch lady will say "nice name" or something. Just after she says that hold START and press DOWN. This will take you to the secret Configuration Mode!
Alternatively, if you're continuing a saved file, wait for the witch to say 'yes I knew it!" then hold START and press DOWN.
The Special Turbo option makes the windows and menus move faster.
The Control Opponents option allows you to choose what the enemy units do on their turn.
Auto Battle basically makes it so the AI chooses what YOUR units do!
Game Complete sets a flag so that your save file has completed the game once. You may need to SAVE your game after setting this option.
But if you've completed the game or used the Game Complete option, you can now access the Character Rename code!
Start a new game, then after naming your main hero, hover over END and hold START while you press A. Now the game will allow you to name EVERY CHARACTER!
