There's a crazy glitch you can perform in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on SNES that allows you skip a large portion of the Skull Woods dungeon. The catch is that it requires the Cane of Somaria, which means you either need to sequence break, or you need to go way out of your way to go to Misery Mire first. But it's still cool, so you should try it!

Fall into the hole that drops you into the long room with the fire spinner thing, then walk to the room on the right. This room houses a chest containing the Compass. But using the Somaria Transition Corruption Glitch, you can change the contents of the chest AND rearrange the layout of the dungeon.

In the room with the chest that has the Compass, walk up to the top and line Link's face up with the left side of the door. Then use the Cane of Somaria to place a block INSIDE the wall.

Face left and pull out your sword, then walk into the door as far north as you can go without transitioning into the next room. You should see the bottom of Link's shoes at the top of the screen.

Release your sword charge, press A to lift the Somaria Block, then tap DOWN on the D-Pad. Now tap LEFT and throw the block, then tap UP on the D-Pad. You should see the screen flicker.

Now walk down out of the doorway. You may need to lift the block and toss it again if it's obstructing your way. But! When you walk down and open the chest, it should suddenly contain the Big Key rather than the compass.

Furthermore, walking through the doorway on your right should now take you straight through a locked Key Door into the treasure room, instead of where it normally takes you (which is a room with Gibdo's and a Small Key).

This trick is useful if you're sequence breaking and you already have the Cane of Somaria before the Skull Woods crystal dungeon.

Obviously, I learned this trick from ‪@PhobiaSoft‬ who is cooler and handsomer than me -    • Glitches you can do in Zelda: A Link ...
