Contra: Legacy of War Game Sample - Playstation

Not a bad action game in and of itself, but it's a pretty bad Contra game, though most people say the game flat-out sucks. The good points? The graphics aren't bad at all for a game back in 1996 and the soundtrack at least feels like it belongs in a Contra title most of the time. You can play with four different characters who use different weapons, play a few mini-games and the game will surely challenge you to an extent.
The potential bad points? The game is short (six levels or so), the characters are pretty uninspired, the levels are very uninspired and largely flat, and the fighting area for some bosses is limited (you can cheat some mid-bosses by getting some good hits shooting them by barely getting them onscreen), which is especially bad in two players. Some pawns spawn endlessly so fast that you can't get time to focus on the real threats and the controls don't exactly help. The "3D Mode" adds generally nothing to the experience and there isn't much variety in the bad guys, even despite how short the game is.
C: The Contra Adventure (which we also own) sorta goes closer to the game's roots, but neither Playstation Contra captures the awesomeness that are the 8/16 bit Contra games. I should note that if you intend to buy/play the game, you do not need the 3D glasses to do so. The 3D Mode is actually off by default, so... yeah. Enjoy.
