Controlling Two Different Characters in a Grill-based Deckbuilder Roguelite | Tendryll demo
Hello everyone! Another demo here. This is Tendryll, a grill-based deckbuilder roguelite, where you control two different characters. It reminded me a lot of Toads of the Bayou, but with the main difference that you have two characters here (and that there was no bug so far). The art design is great, and I really like how this whole turn-based deckbuilder with obstacles work (also reminding me to Gloomhaven, but in a smaller scale).
I enjoyed most of the experience but I had a couple of complains. First, I don't understand the reason why only 3 cards in hand per turn... Why did they decide to change one of the core deckbuilding mechanics, why not 5? I honestly think it would become a really frustrating experience if you keep drawing 3 cards each turn through the whole run. I also feel like the enemies are way too powerful for a first area (dealing 8 or 16 damage with a range that covers most of the stage feels a bit too much, specially if my range is way inferior to that). I cleared the demo during my first try, but only because it was a demo. I am pretty sure I would have died during the next area if I wouldn't have found healing (and, with that being said, I almost never took an extra reward because I was too busy getting healing, which, in the long run, probably is not ideal).
Finally, they probably can't manage to do it, but I feel like this game would be better and more successful in co-op (with the alternative option to play it in singleplayer).
