CS:GO in Depth - R8 Revolver
Hello and welcome to the third episode of counter strike in depth. Today we are looking at a unique pistol that dropped in the winter of 2015. A powerful hand canon that kicks like a mule and hits like a freight train. This is the R8 revolver.
Revolvers were first created in the mid 19th century and originally used black powder and lead ball ammunition. In the days of lever action or muzzle loaded firearms a rotating cylinder was the quickest way to fire multiple shots. The R8 was developed by Smith and Wesson and is a 357 or 38 special caliber single and double action revolver that holds 8 rounds. Smith and Wesson were formed in 1852 during the height of the wild west and are well regarded as one of the best firearms manufactures in history.
In Counter Strike Global offensive the R8 Revolver is available for both teams and replaces the desert eagle as the most expensive handgun in game. Costing $850 and granting $300 per kill it is by no means an eco pistol, but fills the same slot as the desert eagle as a single shot power house.
It comes loaded with 8 rounds with an additional 8 rounds on tap, giving you 16 rounds in total, and can be reloaded in just over 2 seconds. Uniquely, There is a delay when firing the pistol, the fire button must be held down for a 10th of a second before firing meaning a certain level of omniscience is required. You can however go full cowboy and fire rapidly with the secondary fire button for more output at the cost of accuracy.
Its damage is extremely high and its first shot accuracy is dead on target, granting very reliable one hit kills possibly being the highest damage handgun in game on the day of release. The best tactic with the R8 is to treat it like a shotgun, wait in corners and choke points for your enemies to emerge and Finish them with a single powerful bullet to the chest or head.
The R8 revolver is a highly skilled weapon and is not to be dismissed as a mere side arm, this hand cannons damage easily out weights the slow fire rate and is a great choice for the lurker style of play. It is however very high risk, so when deciding to purchase the R8 Revolver you must ask yourself “do I feel lucky Well do ya punk!”
