Video games are cybernetic, they are built out of systems, feedback loops and dynamic interaction. This might seem a trivial point, but this reality implies a more sinister truth, that games program our behavior by incorporating us into their very machinery. Games then become an extension of us, it becomes a trans humanist medium that allows us to amplify our abilities as we slowly merge into some version of the holodeck.
This video examines how game live on the bridge between cybernetics and cyberpunk, an aesthetic movement that arose to question the algorithmic nature of reality. Video games were birth by the information revolution, ans o perhap only in games does there exist the seed of a true cperpunk revolution, ot break free of the networks that govern our reality.
