Anything in a gank becomes notably more viable than it is in a 1v1 and spells highlight just how true this is more than anything else, imo. It's incredibly common running into a caster but they will usually be a threat because they can delete you at range while you deal with their allies or their spells will cause stagger which their allies can then trap you in. However it's very rare to run into someone who can use spells in a 1v1 effectively.
