I never knew this until I watched a speedrun of Mega Man X, but if you shoot a single uncharged shot while dashing forward with the dash boots, your bullets will deal one additional damage.

The "lemons" from your X buster typically only deal one damage. But they deal TWO damage if you shoot while dashing forward. This damage boost does not apply to charged X Buster blasts. ONLY LEMONS.

But yeah, basically as long as you're dashing (and all my viewers are rather dashing!) you will deal an extra damage with your single X Buster bullets. In fact, even if you perform a dash jump THEN RELEASE THE D-PAD to halt your momentum in midair, your lemons will still deal an additional damage.
