Level Select and PRO Difficulty in Super R-Type (SNES) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs
536Super R-Type is a fun little space shooter with a great soundtrack, very similar to the Gradius games. And just like Gradius, Super R-Type has a whole bunch of cool cheats and codes you can use, so here's how to do the Level Select code.
On the title screen, hold R and press UP on the D-Pad nine times. You'll hear a sound effect to confirm. Now during game play, pause the game and press R, Select and A at the same time. You should see a number appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
Now you can scroll to choose levels 1 through 7, but you can also choose 11 through 17. Choosing from the latter selection brings you to levels 1 through 7 but in the next difficulty up. In other words, if you start your game on Hard mode, then enter the level select code to go to level 11 or higher, you will now be in PRO difficulty.
Normally PRO difficulty can only be accessed by beating the game on HARD mode!
