The British-made De Lisle Commando carbine was the very first bolt-action rifle that had an integrated suppressor, which was extremely advantageous during war times. However, only 129 units were made and handed out to specialist military units. 17 prototypes were built by Ford Dagenham and all the actual units were developed by Sterling Armaments Company. The Commando carbine was fed by either a 7-round or 11-round detachable mag and was used until 1965. They saw WWII but also the Korean War and even the Malayan Emergency in Malaysia (formerly known as Malaya). In this war, the military arm of the Malayan Communist Party fought against the Commonwealth armed forces from 1948 until 19960 for a total of 12 years and 3 weeks! Also China, North Vietnam, Indonesia and the Soviet Union supported Malaya in this fight but still the Commonwealth ultimately prevailed, assisted by countries such as Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Southern Rhodesia and the Central African Federation. Chin Peng was exiled from Malaya, later renamed to Malaysia, but still had another try to overthrow the rule in his ex-country. Even though he was a sworn anti-colonialist, he was still forced to sign a peace agreement in 1989.
