In order to unlock the Mike Conley achievement, you must beat the Phoenix Apex with a melee attack. The Phoenix Apex is the second boss in the game, and this can be a bit difficult, as he can hit HARD!

My biggest piece of advice is to play for a while, get familiar with a combat shell, and learn which one you like best. Unlock some permanent upgrades for it, especially things like health/defense, and put some points into its skills. I personally like the Hunter, as it can go invisible and repair its shields at the same time, but your decoy WILL get destroyed quick in this fight.

For this fight, you are going to want to get him as close as possible to being dead before trying to melee him. Getting in his face can be rough, as he WILL kill you pretty quickly. That being said, DO NOT bring Mods/Implants that cause an elemental DOT on him! It would suck to get him very close to death, only to have a poison or fire DOT take him out....trust me, I know this all too well! If you have some equipped, consider unequipping them before he gets too close to dying.

Learn his patterns! He changes up moves after every segment of health that he loses. In a nutshell:
Phase 1 - he uses AOE attacks that are easily readable, but happen pretty quickly.
Phase 2 - he will start using his shield to block attacks, which will also reflect your grenades (and iirc, explosives). He will also jump and slam the ground, which sends out a shockwave. Jump to avoid this. This will also hurt other enemies, so you can use this to take out the ones on the ground easier. He will also create a line in front of him, and then slam the shield down, sending out a shockwave in front of him.
Phase 3 - he will toss the shield, but start running up to you pretty quickly, and deals some pretty big damage if he melees you! Try to keep your distance! He will also now slam the ground 3 times in a row. Each slam will send sparks flying outwards from him across the ground in all directions. Jump to avoid these.

Be mindful of other enemies in the area! While you can ignore them for the most part, it can also get you killed if you don't take some out. Especially the flying ones with the bombs. Remember, his slam attacks in both phase 2 and 3 WILL hurt other enemies on the ground, so use that to your advantage!

Once you get him close to death, get in his face, and start spamming that melee button! Hopefully you kill him before he kills you! He hits HARD, and WILL kill you if you are at low health. This took me quite a few tries before I finally unlocked the Mike Conley achievement. Either he would kick my butt when I went to melee him, or I hit him with an elemental attack that caused him to die from the DOT. Just keep at it, and eventually you will earn the achievement!
