Demiath's Screenthroughs, Part #6 - Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Asssassin's Creed up to and including Revelations is a decent multiplatform franchise; nothing less and certainly nothing more. In terms of parkour-based action games it's a distant second after DICE's sublime Mirror's Edge, the controls are sluggish, sticky and maddeningly inconsistent and a lot of the additional gameplay mechanics just feel tacked on. I have reasonably high hopes for the upcoming Assassin's Creed III - which seems to shake things up far more than the overrated AC2 ever tried to - but so far the heavy lifting (carried out by Ubisoft's legion of studios spread across the globe) involved in creating what's undoubtedly one of the most expensive singleplayer-heavy game series ever created have not resulted in any true classics for the genre.
