Welcome back to Detention, where this week we are putting on a delightful little puppet show! It has been a couple weeks since we left off in Detention and I actually still have a couple episodes from that session I played but have been trying to leak them out slowly rather than burying you guys in shit. Before even really starting this episode we know that the puppet show stage is a thing, but have to figure out exactly what it means. When we left off last time, we had found the 8-track with the piano song on it and used that to play the song on the piano. After our performance, the cage in the center of the room opened up and we released a puppet that wore rather similar clothes to Ray. There was some creepy gross hand also holding it, but in Detention I am not too surprised by that. I am a complete fucking idiot and had no idea what to do with the puppet, even though we knew about the puppet show.

Finally, I put some pieces together after backtracking a bit and put together what needed to be done. Detention doesn’t make it that easy though, but since I could see the other hand I knew that I still needed another part of the puzzle. Detention IS good at that, giving direction without giving it away. I wandered around the school for a bit before discovering the room with the phone that I completely missed the first time through. There wasn’t a puppet in this room, but I did find a phone. I couldn’t call the authorities though, so that is kind of fucked. Oh, I also found a key to the roof. We were looking for that in the last episode of Detention, so I made haste back to the gate and staircase. We found Ray up there… well, another Ray. Maybe we just saw a hallucination. I don’t know, but she killed herself… I killed myself? She killed myself? I watched myself kill myself.

BUT I FOUND A VIDEO TAPE REEL. It’s the little victories in Detention that keep you from slowly going insane after seeing fucked up shit. I took the tape back to the theater and got myself a set of numbers. At this point I was only focused on the puppet show, but knew I hadn’t anymore locks to unlock so I could only assume that the numbers went to the phone. After calling the number, a voice said that my country appreciates my service and then a creepy fuck came down the hall and tried to break in. We were all like, nawwww, fuck that. So, he left a puppet outside the door and took off. I kind of appreciate this creep since he left the puppet that I was looking for, so we took the Military Police Officer puppet back to the show and put him in the other hand. He blew off the head of Wei (puppet Wei, not real Wei) and out plopped a key. This key let us progress through the door in the back of the basement and left us with a memory of Wei and Ray talking about reading some sort of risky books and their teachers/principal.

This is where I start to question what is really going on in this game. We apparently didn’t know Wei before this event, but now I am quite sure that is a lie because of the couple of memories and weird encounters that led me to believe otherwise. Additionally, I keep seeing and now hearing propaganda style queues that make me wonder about the role of communism in all of this since I know how that was apparently a big concern of the militant principal of the school. This all started with the principal bringing a list of some sort to the teacher when Wei was falling asleep. Ray and Wei were apparently associated before this event and were doing some risky reading, so I feel like potentially they were either experimenting with communist ideals under the guidance of their teachers. If this were the case, I almost wonder if Ray is some sort of undercover agent who is systematically culling out the bad apples, or if she just got into shit for being associated with them and is now being forced to experience their demises.

I am still hooked on this shit and am excited to see how the rest unfolds. Catch ya in the next one.
