DFFOO [JP][Act 4 Ch2 Pt1][Ticket Run] Leo FR/BT+0, Tifa and Rem
Things escalated really quickly. I was not planning on pulling Leo at all, but he gave me his BT on free pull before 10+1 tickets were even used, and then proceeded to give me his FR on the first 10+1 ticket. It is like he is trying to pull my moderate interest away from Shantotto/Ursula's banner in mid Nov.
I am still eyeing out for what they would get over there (mostly about Shantotto as I alreay have her BT), so I haven't decided to fully max Leo yet.
My Leo currently is sitting at BT(+0, but functionally base BT because of UW), HA+0, FE 0 but with LD/FR extension using UW+2. So bear those in mind when you are gauging on his potential with these very low investment.
On the flip side, even with these parameters only he is more than capable of completing the task. So I am happy with him just waiting for ingots in the corner for a bit.
Boss is just as beefy as the boss in Cor's LC. I think it has around 350m HP. For a new boss (even the monster type is named after its own) he is unfortunately kind of basic to fight.
Boss: Bandersnatch (XV) x1
Boss has framed turns. Its turns cannot be:
1. delayed through breaks
2. deleted
Delays from skills do work however.
Force:
40%: BRV dmg down and 50% BRV gain down
80%: boss SPD up and AD down
FA: Mighty Roar+ (guaranteed hit, ST melee BRV+HP)
- give itself the "excitement" buff
- delay all player characters by 1T
*Always trigger outside of BT/Summon phases
The buff "excitement" means the boss:
(a) cannot die
(b) deals additional HP dmg when it deals HP dmg
FT: 20T
- Heal at the start of its turn
- Player recast gauges stop moving
- 999% HP dmg reduction outside of FA
Weakness: (cancel FT and dispel "excitement")
FA that deals BRV dmg and delay target by 1T
Thresholds:
HP locks: 69% -- 39% -- 29% -- 0%
The boss goes into enrage mode during these thresholds. Until enraged is DISPELLED (not triggered), the HP locks remain there.
Enrage increases the boss BRV/HP dmg and there is a visible yellow aura around it.
Enrage can only be dispelled if you delay the boss by 2T.
General Strategy:
Outside of these actions, the boss mostly either does an AOE or a ST BRV attack on the party. So overall it is not very dangerous.
It is a beefy ST boss, so recent ST focused characters like Tifa/Leo/Noctis have an edge. Off-turn characters like Cor/Noctis/Leo would perform well in this stage as well.
This boss is a rare breed that does not have an additional FG charge based on player's action. Therefore, you can just be chill and slowly build your FG without super charging or synergy, unlike most of the recent fights.
The force weakness does not specify the attack type required. Anything that delays a boss by at least 1T like CoD's FR would suffice should you require more than 1 FT.
The HP threshold locks are relatively nastier than the previous ones, as it is only removed if enrage is dispelled. That means you must first hit the threshold, then waste 1FT removing it while dealing no actual dmg. Therefore without absolute firepower, the turn control for 1FT would be quite tight.
To facilitate this, I used Rem to switch Tifa or Leo around depending if the threshold was about to be met. Cid Raines LDCA was also used inside of FT, because the 69-39% threshold has the largest gap among all the thresholds, thus requiring a big blow to reach it in time and switch people around on the turn queue.
My Leo has low investment. Progression in this stage could have gone much faster had he been maxed (look at that 70% for example). BT+ into BT phase may even simplify things as you can just keep delaying. Having said that, he is not really needed in this stage. You can use something like Seymour LDCA to delay for you.
In general it is just about reserving turns for delaying the boss and not wasting time getting stuck when the HP lock is engaged. Survival is not an issue.
About Leo:
At first, I thought his BT functions closer to Laguna when the info first came out. Now that the details are displayed, turns out he works actually more similarly to Noctis.
The biggest thing is his off-turn attack does not trigger when it is a counterattack hitting a boss with Leo's debuff, unlike Laguna's Desperado. It triggers whenever someone actively targets a boss with the debuff. Thus you don't see Rem doing Cure/Swap triggering it when her follow-up attacks the boss, as her attack does not specifically targets the boss.
On the other hand, much like Rem's off-turn, his also triggers after HP bonus is increased. So those attacks actually hit harder than something like Cor's preemptive strikes with a higher multiplier.
Dmg-wise, he is pretty on par with the current standards. If you skip using S1, he is around the 11-12 HP hit mark. His ST FR echo hits very hard, not unlike Tifa's. (Pay no mind to the difference at the end, My Tifa has full investment with UW+4). He is functionally the same as before, just with additional off-turn dmg now.
