DFFOO [JP][Iroha IW] First time using Yang on JP with Kain and Luna x Kam friend FR
Kam FR is still immensely powerful, and if you are like me who started JP near Lufenia+ started and don't have Kurasame LDCA for party ice enchant and don't want to use Snow for once, Lunafreya is a really good partner for him.
My Lunafreya is still BT+2, Yang at HA, UW+1 with no FL.
Kain and Yang are one hell of a follow-up dmg combo. Both of them have some form of turn rate move that you can exploit the other's follow-up attack, and you can use Yang as both just a follow-up attacker or a semi-counter unit if you so choose to let the enemy move. So putting Auron besides Yang is not half bad either.
Together with Lunafreya, you can give swiftness to either one of them and go further down this path.
This boss has kind of an annoying FT buff, so I took the 1 FR cycle way out instead of dragging it out.
Boss Info:
Force Mechanic:
FG: 40/60/80%:
Boss party ATK/DEF/BRV dmg up
FA: Cleanses all debuffs (silver framed inclusive) debuff on CoD
Guaranteed hit
Weakness:
A magic FA that recovers HP, excluding heals from passive, spheres and buffs
FT: 5 turns
When CoD takes HP dmg, the attacking character would get countered by zero particle beam (if can one shot a character and it ignores HP dmg mitigation).
Also when they take HP dmg, they recover 80% of the dmg at the end of the turn.
Strats and Comments:
This combined with the weakness means that unless you are using Lunafreya or Iroha FR, you would have to either wait it out for their FT or kill them before their FT happens. CoD would constantly counter you while recover a major portion of their HP scaling to your dmg, so the FT should end as soon as possible.
NOTE that if you bring a counter character, a similar "mechanic" (oversight or bug, whichever you prefer lol) that I used in Reno's IW fight would happen, meaning if you attack and counter counters, or if CoD attacks you and your character counters them, the force turn would not go down. The fight can get stuck in a state of FT to your advantage or disadvantage.
The Floating Eye is largely the same boss from the first Shinryu fight in Act 3 Chapter 8 part 1. It paralysis you whenever it hits you and your character hits below 50% HP. The biggest difference is it does not KO you when that happens.
Their normal behaviour is just being a nuisance mostly. CoD has a moderate chance of putting a 1 turn darkness debuff onto you, and one of the attacks get more BRV hits as it is used more. Floating eye equals paralysis bot. Some of their hardest hitting attacks are BRV gain based though, so maybe you can bring something along the lines of Kadaj/Arciela to the fray.
Overall I find it much cleaner to let them move as few times as possible. The first run that I employed was just Lunafreya putting swiftness onto Cinque and delay them till eternity.
One way of dealing with CoD cleansing in FT and countering is actually inflicting paralysis onto them. Since the counter occurs in off turns, your debuff will take effect until their turn comes up. If you are relying on Kam BT paralysis though, beware that after the cleanse you will need one attack to put it back in place, but the counter happens before Kam's debuff
reappears. So you may need something like Raijin LDCA or something else to stop the first counter dmg from killing you.
