DFFOO [JP][Cor Event] The Cor-Vayne Experience but on JP
I have Cor FR, but since I wanted to use Cor with Vayne and this fight is essentially a ST fight that th eboss would keep getting delayed, using Vayne FR makes more sense this time as Cor FR benefits even more from enemies being able to move and proccing counters/his preemptive strikes. I will probably pick another fight for using his FR.
First clear was actually with Ace as 3rd member, since Cor's FR is receptive to any kind of off-turn dmg, not just melee.
Boss Info: (Rigid(?) Warrior) (Lightning LD debuf boss)
Standard Shinryu reduction
Force Mechanics:
20%: Player ATK down
40%: Player gets 30% additional BRV gain reduction
60%: Boss and its allies have BRV dmg up
FA: Shield Rush+++ (Break recovery and BRV+HP atk)
Removes all debuffs on itself (silver framed inclusive)
Gets a few turns of ATK, DEF, iBRV and mBRV up
FT: 5 turns
Boss and allies get BRV/HP dmg up
Weakness:
Any Melee FA that deals over 9999 BRV dmg in 1 hit
Player FT stops their force effect and knocks the boss into "System Down", meaning the boss takes incrased BRV dmg and have DEF down
Other notable behaviour:
The boss also has a recast ability, which is the same attack as its FA, with less +s.
Normal recast: same but does not remove all debuffs
+ version: (When the sword spawn survives as it is using its recast)
It removes ALL allies' buffs and it is a guaranteed hit.
It absorbs the add and its BRV as its own before doing the BRV+HP attack.
It buffs itself with those 5 stats and debuffs those 5 stats on your team
Boss also periodically resummon the add if it is dead.
Notes on the add sword spawn:
1. It does quite a lot of BRV hits on its attack, but only one normal attack and recast has a HP attack component
2. Explosive Sword delays its target by 1 turn, 3 if it is the ++version. If the ++version breaks your character, ALL buffs on ALL of your characters are removed.
From my exp, the ++version is activated as a kamikaze attack by the sword as it dies, and it targets whoever kills it on turn.
3. Triple slice, if breaking your target, buffs all bosses with ATK up
4. After the boss uses resummon armaments (how the add respawns), and after the sword recast fires, there is a "Rigid Barrier" effect that grants all bosses a 200K BRV dmg shield. It gets quite hard to shave as they have stat ups, your stats debuffed etc.
Its recast is just a BRV gain BRV+HP attack that can be dodged. It is the barrier that is troublesome.
Approach:
Boss is not hard at all, especially if you don't let it move or have someone like Cor, who reduces your BRV dmg taken with his buffs. They should not be able to one shot you even with the FA.
Thing is there are a few nuances to dealing with this boss. If you decided that you need to let it move, then you should consider the consequences of being broken by both of the bosses' certain attacks. The most notable hindrance would be their ability to dispel ALL of your buffs. In this regard, having someone that recovers BRV after HP attack, such as Vayne, would be a good idea to combat the kamikaze attack.
Also, the sword is quite squishy, so even just a few AoEs would put it down. Do not let it live when the main boss is about to use its recast
Delaying the boss seems to be quite effective in skipping the potential 200K BRV dmg shield the sword puts on the main boss after resummoning and its recast, if let to its own devices.
If it cannot get a turn, the only thing it can do to harm you is its FR, and quite frankly it is not that dmging even without Cor's intervention.
Regarding Cor x Vayne:
Cor Vayne worked on GL when Vayne BT came out, and it still works wonderfully in the C90 Shinryu era on JP. Cor's overhead has been shortened to needing only 7 preemptive strikes to activate Reaper's Gale, so technically you can 1 cycle charge it from 0 to 7 with Vayne's consecutive turn chain, including C88. With Lunafreya, this can be achieved effortlessly without. So even without enemies moving, Vayne can make Cor have much higher Reaper's Gale efficiency than usual.
As mentioned before, Cor's FR takes different type of off-turn dmg into consideration. Be it counter, magic, traps or range off-turn dmg. The main FR condition does not give a very high HP% bonus, so it really needs a library of off-turn dmg firing off to get the true potential value out of his FR.
In comparison Vayne's has a more specific way to use it with a more specific target ally pool (rebreaks/melee off-turn). Relatively, it does get a higher HP bonus in general, unless you are using Cor for the "Luna FR "bug" that which is likely to be fixed later.
Beware that even though throwing out off-turn dmg seems nice for Cor, something like Ace's trap from LDCA would have diminished dmg if you sub those characters out.
Cor's FR also has a mini-BT effect attached to it. It makes you take less BRV dmg and deals more of it. He himself also has a chance to get rainbow BRV numbers. Actually quite loaded for FR side effects.
