DFFOO [JP] Lunafreya: Turn swapper on the right; Kain on the left
Just a very simple concept of exploiting Kain in the air and the turn swapping mechanics with Lunafreya. It does not have to be Rem, you can obviously do the same thing with Cid Raines/Aphmau or even someone like Ashe with one time swapping capabilities.
How it functions is simply thus:
Kain, on Lunafreya's left, would hoard all the precious dmg buffs and CAs and stay up in the air as long as possible for the maximum amount of off-turn dmg. The Cait Sith LDCA, Ifrit buff and Lunafreya's heavy hitter are all active on him in the air here.
On the right side, we have Lunafreya giving swiftness buff to a turn swapper. In this case, Rem, having 3 consecutive free turns with one free skill, would be swapping turns back to Lunafreya. When she uses her LD, in turn she gives Lunafreya a free skill to spend as well.
Technically you can go on for as long as Rem is right behind Lunafreya and Lunafreya can reach 4 stacks with different skills to grant swiftness back to Rem. Once your break order is set up properly, Kain will repeatedly break the boss in the background. As you keep spawning turns between the swapper and Luna, unless the boss has a turn warp mechanic, you can push them away very far without needing a delayer.
Other swappers:
Rem/Aphmau/Ashe have the added benefit of charging others' EX. This is extra helpful to give Lunafreya a no skill spenderr while filling her oracle staff stacks. Rem giving free skill to Luna is extra precious for fast charging the FG as well. Ashe would benefit alot from the free turns, as she often needs a few of her turns to set up properly (i.e. Using LD, HP+, spending EX, buffing with S2).
Cid Raines is obviously the high dmg swapper of the bunch. He also has two delays that can further let you ignore the presence of the enemy turns. With all the spawned turns and delay, it makes it so that Kain's turn would still appear before the enemy and can engage in all the launches. So in a way, Luna + Cid makes it easier to get all the launch partners to participate.
Heavy Hitter buff:
Luna's heavy hitter buff is active during launches and off-turn dmg. Similar to the concept of putting Ashe's Queen's Order buff on off-turn dmg dealers due to its non-extendable nature, putting her buff on an off-turn dmg dealer is very ideal, moreso when you are applying swiftness to the other partner and Luna herself for more turns.
The buff only scales to your original HP dmg cap, so FR HP bonus does not amplify it. However it can be upped with HP dmg cap up and It also works in launches, so there are a lot of extra dmg to be had (on all 3 launch participants) if you exploit every opportunity.
BT partners:
For that reason Ramza + Lunafreya is actually pretty good. Luna and adding buffs for Ramza's BT effect to be scale closer to the max, and in turn Ramza makes her heavy hitter buff more effective by providing a massive HP dmg cap up bonus. Also, he entering the field granting allies buff while attacking on his first turn would give a full 60% bonus, as he fulfils all 3 conditions on her FR.
A off-turn dmg friend would obviously be welcomed as well. CoD, Laguna and Vayne, who is coming back soon to C90 would contribute in the form of extra off-turn dmg.
Kam with his FR would be an absolute dmg monster, as she convenient party enchant ice for his condition to be fulfilled. If you want to use her FR, the most optimal partner to use a BT phase on would be someone that always put buffs on others when they attack in their BT phase. Currently I don't remember who does such a thing though.
Flexibility:
There are obviously a lot more applications and fun things you can do with this.
For example: a counter attack combo of Reno FR on with a counter attacker on her left.
Additionally, you do not have to confine to the stereotypical applications and deprive of the people on the left their turns. You can give Kain swiftness to get his stacks up really quick, or give heavy hitter to someone like Papalymo or Prishe, who can readily spawn their own turns while doing heavy dmg. Grant swiftness to Lyse so she can charge her own EX and stacks to 5, then give heavy hitter as she pops her EX for fancy dmg.
Alternatively you can use swiftness to negate those extra heavy hitting self delaying attacks, such as Cinque's S1/S2 and Machina's HP+ (burst), so you can make Machina dealing extra heavy dmg consecutively without even needing to enter his actual BT phase.
A lot of things you can do with her and decisions to make on the fly.
I expect when Cor arrives in Jan, there will be a lot of people using Cor + Luna + 1, myself included if I can get him.
