Diablo IV - The Queue
0Unlike many other gamers my age, I can't trace my gaming history alongside the Diablo franchise. I didn't own or play the original two, and only watched minimal gameplay of Diablo II on a friend's replay when I was in college. I purchased Diablo III so I could play XBOX One with the rest of my group, and I did enjoy it - although not enough to go gaga bonkers over future iterations of the game.
It was fun, but it wasn't life-changing.
And so, that's how I roll into Diablo IV. Thinking "this will be fun, but then it will be forgotten."
And sometimes that's okay. Not every game has to be amazing. Sometimes, the writing has to be good enough to get you through, and the gameplay needs to do enough to be engaging, and you can barrel through a few hours of gameplay before it feels just about right to call it quits.
Miracles weren't requested, and miracles weren't given. But it's fun, even in short bursts, and it's demonic and evil enough that I can enjoy rampaging through the blood and guts. And that's all I ever wanted.
Editor's note: Apologies for the jumpy video/audio towards the end. I didn't notice until the cutscene was just about over, so a couple minutes of laggy audio as the video fades out is something I'll have to live with.
