Sam Raimi enjoyed putting some nods to his previous Spider-Man franchise into this film. Early on in the film, Strange and Wong are trying to pull Gargantos, and it scales the building to go after Chavez. This is actually the same building that Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man fought on during Spider-Man 2, but that was on a different side of the building and in another universe. Back in Spider-Man 2, Joe’s pizza and the billboard that Mary Jane has is on Bleecker Street, which is the same street as Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Santorum.
