Alan Cumming was going to reprise his role of Nightcrawler for a cameo appearance, and he was going to go through with this even with the discomfort of the prosthetic make-up in mind. The cameo ended up being so short that the crew decided that the lengthy and costly process for makeup wasn’t worth it. They ended up omitting it from the movie, and the tie-in video game explains that Nightcrawler ended up leaving the X-Men due to the fact that he didn’t appreciate the action and violence in their lifestyle.
