Digitized Speech in Sega Genesis Games - NintendoComplete
445This is a compilation of assorted digitized voice clips from several Sega Genesis games. It's certainly not all inclusive, but there is a lot packed in here.
The Genesis has always received guff over the muffled, distorted digital effects in its games. Well, hopefully this selection will show you that it was not only very capable of clean playback, but also often the victim of lazy sound programming or a poor sound engine. It's playback can come awfully close to that of the SNES's when a developer took the time to do it right. Of course, this video also features several examples of the nostalgic yet completely unintelligible noises some games put out. Twenty-odd years later and I still can't figure out for the life of me what some of these are saying. I usually just internally Buffalax those ones. If you can't understand it, figure out something that's complete randomly that sounds close!
