Description of the game:
Mega Man: The Power Battle (Rock Man: The Power Battle in Japan) is a fighting/shooting game and spin-off of the Mega Man series by Capcom released in arcades in October 1995 on the CPS-II arcade system board. Ithas several home ports including the Neo-Geo Pocket Colour exclusively in Japan, on PS2 along with its sequel, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters in a compilation of Rock Man: The Power Battle Fighters, on PS2 and Nintendo GameCube in June 2004 and XBox in March 2005 in the US, and a re-release on PS4 and XBOX ONE (PS5 and XBOX ONE Series S/X via backwards compatibility) via Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium on 22 July 2022.
Dr. Wily is up to no good again and has revived and improved 18 Robot Masters from the past. As such, it's up to Mega Man and Proto Man to stop him, while Bass destroys the inferior Robot Masters to prove to Wily why he's the robot he needs.
Gameplay is similar to other Mega Man games, yet played in a similar style of a fighting game. Unlike the other games in the series, you fight 18 Robot Masters in an enclosed arena instead of fighting regular enemies. You choose between 3 characters, Mega Man, Proto Man and Bass, each equipped with a weapon that has a same function. Upon choosing one, you must select 1 of the 3 courses, each one consisting of 6 Robot Masters per course from the original Mega Man up until Mega Man 7 and a varied difficulty. The objective is to deplete the enemy's health to zero. Players can use normal shots or charged shots to do damage (A more powerful charge shot can be used when the player is on critical health of 2 bars or lower). Upon defeating the Robot Masters, you will earn a new weapon, which will either inflict normal or better damage on the enemy, depending on which Robot Master was destroyed first. After destroying 6 of the Robot Masters, you will confront a more difficult enemy and Dr. Wily himself. Upon clearing each stage (excluding the final stage) you will also earn 2 units of health. Taking damage from the enemy or their projectiles will inflict damage on the player and if the player's health reaches zero, the robot explodes, prompting players to continue the fight.
