Dodging Long Coast: Improve Your Coast Times
70Guide on how to identify Long Coast which is the longest coast layout by a significant margin. Important to point out that I time from entrance position to WP. I did not mention this in video. From WP to Mudflats its about an extra 3 seconds or so, but this 3 seconds is consistent across layouts. As a result, to know total average time add about 3 seconds to each thing I said from entrance to exit.
Read Method:
(1) Pay attention to orientation of stairs at start, if they point to right, the layout could be long coast. If they point to left, the layout cannot be long coast.
(2) If in right stairs layout, head 2 screens north-north east from entrance while doing so pay attention to left/west well that connects to entrance
(3) If that wall heads to the NW in roughly a straight line, you could be in long coast. If it does not head NW or has some significant deviation heading to NW, its not long coast.
(4) Once you are two screens from entrance after heading N-NE, if you cannot see mountainous terrain to the NE or otherwise on minimap, you are in long coast. Else you are in the pistol layout.
(5) If long coast, logout and reset the zone for a quicker coast layout.
