"Does Trauma DESTROY My Brain?" Wired To Experience Trauma (Part 1) | Psychotherapy Crash Course
#trauma #unhealthyparents #Brain
"Does trauma destroy the brain" is a question I get a lot. Most people are afraid that because they have experienced something tragic their brain will never be the same.
The good part is that the brain is very resilient and can bounce back by creating new connections, restoring old connections, and creating new neuronal networks for the brain to use to communicate with various other parts of itself. The human brain is the most fascinating part of the body that God has created. It's amazing how the brain can heal itself.
So you may be asking yourself "does trauma destroy my brain?" Let me just answer by telling you that it doesn't always destroy it. In fact, sometimes trauma strengthens the brain because it forces the brain to heal itself and become resilient.
*In this video, I introduce the topic of how trauma "wires" us and provide a bit of practical information on the major parts of the brain impacted by various kinds of trauma. In part two of this video, I will help you identify how your brain may have been impacted by trauma.
