In 1996, almost at the end of the Super Nintendo's life cycle, Rare released "Donkey Kong Country 3."
The game had a more limited development schedule because much of the team behind the first installments was focused on the Nintendo 64, and also because it served as a way to experiment with the format, adding elements of a less linear map and stages that required returning to multiple times to achieve a 100 collection.
The character selection here is the most controversial, as it keeps Dixie Kong but adds Kiddy Kong, a stronger and heavier character, but one that removes much of the mobility offered by the second installment of the series.
