Doom 2's pwad "Epic 2" level 26 my play video

Pwad: Epic 2
Skill: Ultra-Violence
Time: 18:51
Map: 26
Name: Luxor
Category: UV-Fast

This map is very long and has a lot of enemies. I thought this map had difficulty which was caused by its length because an error might become fatal on fast monsters but this map didn't seem to have serious problem. I found that some enemies after BFG was so tricky but the trap was just in the first area. I therefore thought this map was no problem after I broke through the spot. However, the last area was unexpectedly hard and it made me spend much time for a good run with below 20 min.

First of all, I write the detail of the first area. I pushed a switch for opening an entrance of inside walls preferably. Revenants in the behind of the herd were fighting against baron while I was dealing with the front of the herd. It was so effective. A pain elemental in the inside walls had trouble because I didn't prevent it spawning many lost souls. Desirably, it would move to the outside walls smoothly, but it often stayed in the inside by infighting and spawned lost souls continuously. Especially, when the pain elemental floated around an arch-vile, lost souls from the pain blocked my attacks to the vile and the vile restricted my movements by its attack. After I got a BFG, some viles and the two cyberdemon's appeared in both sides of walls. This was one of the hardest spot in the map because this area was too extensive to avoid vile's attack easily and it was very difficult to kill viles in the outside quickly before their attack for resurrected enemies. Hopefully, resurrected enemies would fight against the cyberdemon and the viles were involved in it, but it didn't happened well. By the way, I was able to pick up over 600 cells again before entering a shrine, so I was free to use cells in the area.

Secondarily, I tell the middle part. Health side was strict after I entered a shrine. A lot of zombies which had hitscan attack gradually decreased my health, so I didn't keep good health easily. I felt that a next mega sphere with three viles were very far on fast monsters. There were many hell knights in the outside area where a lantern existed. To use BFG for them would be so effective, but it was very dangerous to reach them for critical damage of BFG shots. I didn't have enough health and it also had a risk of being hunted by viles. I eventually used a rocket launcher for them and it was so easy. I lured a herd of revenants in front of a door to the yellow key's room away because a vile would appear there after I got the yellow key. Two cyberdemons with a red key was a little dangerous for a small room on fast monsters. Especially, it was hard to avoid their missile when they stood side by side. I dealt with them slowly and safely, so I consumed not 4 shots which was minimum to kill them but 8 shots of BFG.

Finally, the topic is about the last area was extremely difficult. I wanted to push a switch for a bridge preferably, but the combination of the spider master mind and a caged vile obstructed me. I couldn't the vile's attack when I hid from the master mind, but I couldn't the master mind's attack when I hid from the vile. On original UV, it was not problem because they would not assault me instantly, but it was a nightmare situation on fast monsters. I tried to change the vile's target to the master mind. However, it rarely happened without a bridge because I couldn't stand in the position of them on a straight line. I eventually made the master mind hit its attack to the vile by a vile jump. It was very risky gamble as it was used in the last part of a long map. In the run, I fortunately succeeded in it before taking a vile's attack, though my health was low for my mistakes. I was upset when the second master mind fought against hell knights easily, but I managed to survive it.

In conclusion, I aimed for not a faster record but just surviving, like map 24. I wasted some BFG shots for safety and some parts were pretty slow. I understand well that the run is improvable in many points, but I don't want to try it with no more risky way on UV-Fast which is a less competitive category. At least, I am satisfied with below 20 min.
