Welcome to Stardate20x6. We truly are getting into the meat of doom skill progression. For those who don't know, we're beginning to familiarise ourselves with a mapper named Ribbiks. This name will crop up over and over from now on.
Ribbiks wads are most of the time notorious for being insanely hard. It is basically going to help us bridge the gap for much harder wads. As i've stated multiple times, my goal for this channel is to not necessarily be a pro speedrunner, but rather reach the pinnacle of skill when it comes to doom.
Onto the map. This is an absolute joyride to play and I am actually going to go as far as to say that this is one of my favourite maps I have played in a ribbiks wad. The whole way through, there's a constant lack of health along with the constant pressure of being cornered or sniped. The fights are super well organised to the point they almost blend in super well together.
I followed Daerik's route, up until the red key, where I decided to play it safe. Although it's much quicker to just rocket the imps as soon as you can, it's super risky with everything infighting and targeting you. The revenants and spectres can be a real pain in the ass to deal with. So how I tackled it was to just not tackle it. I left the fight and waited for the monsters to burn themselves out before I could re-enter and kill everything.
Other than the red key fight, it's not awfully hard to beat the map. The sniper cyber can be a real pain to deal with as well, however if you can get it to infight, you've basically got yourself a free ticket to beating the map. Congrats, it's only going to get harder from here!
