Without the factor of speedrunning, this map is fabulous. The visuals look absolutely stunning, and the whole idea of the map takes a turn compared to what most of Haste has been. Nirvana really goes for a different approach with his maps, and the effect works so well. Having roaming creatures that slowly build up as you play through the map in a single room/setting, with the scenery being quite ominous yet somewhat soothing. On casual playthrough people who play aggressive maps will thoroughly enjoy this one.
However, since I was speedrunning, I had a much different approach to things. And from what I have experienced, I can say that speedrunning this map sucks. There is nothing more tedious and more boring than expecting lucky rolls of infighting, not only just to get a faster time on a map, but also to clear the map in the first place too. Without good infighting, your attempt is completely worthless.
The start is frustrating because it requires you to lure a cyberdemon around instead of forward. Sometimes he refuses to wake up and most of the time he takes the easy route even when prompted not to.
Then you have to kill some stray revenants, push past the imps, press the button to release everything and let literal hell loose on yourself. That way you can lock yourself in the next fight for everything to clean itself up.
The arch vile fight is completely fine, and tbh it's a break in a completely luck based situation. What isn't fine is when the floor lowers, revealing all the monsters you have left. Depending on how many rockets you have, and whether the cyberdemon is infighting will determine how you get out. If the cyberdemon is off to get the milk whilst the arch viles are in the back resurrecting everything, just restart. Don't even bother trying to push through, it's impossible.
After that, you then have a BFG and a horde of Arch viles to deal with once you've cleaned up the secrets and everything else. It's not really too bad but holy crap can it become tedious. Sometimes they spawn in slowly, making killing them quick and easy, and other times they all come in at once, making your life miserable.
After that, you can just clean up the revenants, make your way inside the pyramid and duel fight 2 cyberdemons around a switch. If you've beaten everything beforehand, this last part should be a cakewalk.
Overall, my time is not great, but the route for this map is abysmal. I really dislike having to mainly rely on infighting as a mandatory way of getting out of a space. As a result, this self inflicted mission for beating the map as fast as possible, has caused me to unfortunately dislike it somewhat. But the map itself is a work of art, and I feel like even after all my criticism, it should still be praised for the unique challenge that it offers within the whole WAD.
