I must admit that these maps are starting to get a lot harder. I struggled to even single segment this at one point before trying to run this map. Nevertheless, this is so far my favourite map in the set. I love how the non-linearity of the map all blends together, meaning that you can have a unique experience each time you play it.
To me, this map feels more like a traditional crumpets map for some reason. The low enemy count, the dehydration of ammo before the final fight, the majority of enemies being mid tier or high tier. Stuff like this gets the adrenaline going.
In terms of speedrunning this map, I had to find a separate route as there were really no fast runs for this demo. The final route I feel was pretty optimal, however someone someday can prove me wrong on that hypothesis. I didn't really have to revisit any areas other than the green cyber arena.
Speaking of which I would actually go as far to say that the green cyber arena is the hardest arena in the map in terms of speedrunning. Although the final fight is said to be harder, if you've played YUM, you would know about keeping between the bookshelves. It would break the arch viles line of sight making killing the more spacious enemies more reasonable.
What made the green cyber fight hard was the fact I had to dodge two sets of cyber rockets, along with chaingunners, and not only that but some revenant rockets too. It can become pretty overwhelming quick if you don't try to at least get them to infight. When you hit the switches and platform your way over, you make it to the next hardest fight. The afrit can become really tedious to peekaboo shoot, considering it attacks completely randomly in my case.
When you grab the secret, you can get the berserk and clear the smaller fight on the edge of the map. Once that's done you can slowly make your way through the remaining fights and towards the final fight.
In this attempt, I got really close with the green cyber and almost lost the run, however I managed to dodge at the last second, so consider me lucky.
The final fight is not too bad, if you have lots of health at that point, you can just tank the arch vile zaps and save yourself some time. Unfortunately I had a lack of rockets and only 20% health to make it through to the exit, so I really didn't have much choice but to play it fairly safe.
I'm a bit upset that I did not get sub 5 minutes, but maybe when I revisit these maps in the not so distant future, I can claim that time.
