You may remember I tackled Revenge of the 90's which was my first introduction to Adam Post, You may known him better as DoomKid, An avid Deathmatch player, Deathmatch wad maker, community project contributor, host of "DoomShack.org", Winner of a 2020 Cacoaward for Rowdy Rudy II Powertrip and longtime Doomworld member, DoomKid's wads have all stood out for their production and I plan to go over more of his work later on, but for now, It's time to go over the wad that Revenge of the 90's replaced in Season #11.
Ray Mohawk's Maniac Monday is a 6 level PWAD released originally fully on December 14rth 2019 and later updated on February 5th 2020, Like his other wads, DoomKid brings a lot of custom enemies, weapons and more to this honerable mention from the 2020 cacoawards. The story follows Ray Mowhawk (Doomguy with punk spikes) living along the coastline near a UAC facility, but one day the toxic fumes and sludge begin to make his neighbors into mutants, It's time to bring the hammer down on those UAC fools.
Don't walk into Ray Mohawk's Maniac Monday thinking it will be a easy wad, There are a LOT of hiscanners and custom hitscanners, Imps now wear Hawaiian skirts and flower necklaces, zombiemen are blue uac marines with sunglasses and the other enemies are also tropical themed. I was getting torn up a lot as the first level is very very cramped with enemies.
Our fist has been replaced by a knife and the pistol? It's now a rifle that looks similar to what Rowdy Rudy uses, The maps are well detailed and that smooth Caribbean style midi music gives the entire wad a paradise lost feel, I didn't get too far but this wad is certainly something else, DoomKid shows his love of custom doom content well here and I think most players will enjoy Ray Mohawk's Maniac Monday.
