Doom Wads/Mods #598:Swim With The Whales
https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/swtw Dive beneath the waves.. and get ready to suffer. Ribbiks needs no introduction after Stardate 20x6. Everything I've gone over by Zachary Stephens gives me the impression of a mapper who thinks outside the box to piece together combat situations. This 3 map wad with a special secret level is another I've yet to complete as Decino and MtPain27 were not lying, This.. just might be the most evil wad that Ribbiks has ever released. More so then Sunlust, and just as slick as Crumpets.
Released on December 21rst 2013 and given a winner spot at that year's cacoawards, Swim with the Whales is distinctive from the first notes of its midi which is the Aqua Rock tune from Golden Sun: The Lost Age and its rusty metal and blue color. Map01 is just a introduction to the think outside the box ideals that Zachary uses while Map02 is the step up where we are locked inside a large complex of blue and rusty metal against some of the most INTENSE battles I've gone into.
From the word go in Ride the Dolphins, You'll be under attack from a lot of enemies including Mancubuses, Hell Knights, Imps, Revenants and chaingunners and there's NOWHERE to hide when things go absolutely apeshit, and its the archviles that will really leave you on the ground vs anything else.. This map is so damn difficult that I can't get through the first ambush due to low health, but someday I will, no matter how waterlogged I get.
