https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/a-c/beholder The attack of the 1990's has begun again but by now, you should know that. When I look to 1994, I think of Doom II but also the Aliens TC by Justin Fisher and the year is just as relevant even today with the term 1994 wad. Again going to how everyone starts somewhere, these wads from that time period offer a glimpse into what Doom modding was like in the older days.

Authored by Alex Cannon with playtesting credits to Jeffrey Cannon and released on May 12th 1994, Beholder.Wad is a E2M1 replacement for Ultimate Doom. No story included but the author, according to the I.D. Archive page for this wad stated they wanted to add more making me wonder if this wad was fully finished or was a beta.

Being a 1994 wad, Beholder is extremely rough around the edges in terms of texture usage, There's a lot of strange choices in terms of enemy and ammo placement and diabolicial traps that did get me a few times. Though Alex also shows he was able to use linedefs and triggers correctly putting Beholder as a standout vs other 1994 wads. Its not a everyday play but still impressive to look at despite its extremely chunky texture choices.
