This is video #07 in my Dragon Warrior II playthrough. Near Hamlin, Heorot has reached Level 10 and upgraded to the Full Plate Armor. Talint has reached Level 8 and upgraded to the Iron Spear. Now, they head southwest to explore the ruins of Moonbrooke Castle. The castle is surrounded by HP-sapping swampland, so be careful.

This place makes me think a bit about Trodain Castle in Dragon Quest VIII. There are some decent monsters in this place. There are red flames here representing the souls of the people who perished in Hargon's vicious attack. The throne room is in the northeast (time index 2:40). The King reveals that his daughter was "cursed and transformed into a common mutt." Hm...

Don't worry too much about the treasure chests in this place. They are empty.

A ghost in the northwest of the castle talks about the Mirror of Ra, which was lost in a swamp southeast of Hamlin (time index 6:42). This is a very important clue.

Before going after the Mirror of Ra, the party returns to Hamlin to rest up (time index 9:18). To get to the Mirror of Ra, the party first goes back towards Moonbrooke and then heads east along the southern side of the nearby lake and river. Along the way, Heorot reaches Level 11 (time index 12:24).

The magic spot is a 2x2 swamp directly east of Moonbrooke (time index 15:09). On the northeast tile, the party can Search to obtain the Mirror of Ra. Watch your HP!

Along the way back to Hamlin, Talint reaches Level 9 (time index 16:40).
