This is video #05 in my Dragon Warrior II playthrough. After collecting the Silver Key from the Lake Cave west of Cannock, Heorot heads east to the Spring of Bravery. It's a long walk, so bring along some Medical Herbs. The road takes him over hills, across a desert, through marshes, across the bridge, and into a forest. He finally finds the cave entrance in the northeastern reaches of the continent (time index 0:45).

The Spring of Bravery is pretty straightforward. Follow the road north and east to a small pond at a meeting of the ways. For some Gold, follow the path east, south along the eastern wall, and then west through another room. Go north when you can, and you will find a chest with 15-30 Gold (time index 2:20).

Back at the pond, the hero turns along the northern path. This path snakes around to the northwestern part of the cave with a large spring. A Medical Herb can be found at the western end of the path (time index 6:25).

An old wizard stands at the edge of the spring (time index 6:45). He informs Heorot that the Prince of Cannock was recently here but has headed off towards Midenhall Castle. If the hero talks to him again and says no, he says that the Token of Erdrick is kept by a "brave hero."

On the way out of the cave, Heorot takes the path just east of the central pond south into a small room. A chest here contains another Medical Herb (time index 8:35). Nice!

Well, since the hero missed his royal cousin, he heads back to Midenhall. There is no need to go back by way of Cannock. Instead, the hero can head southwest along a mountain range until he sees a double-bridge spanning the waterway into a forest. From there, he can head south through between a river and a lake. At that point, he will be due northeast of Leftwyne. When he gets back to the grasslands, he can turn east and follow the grasslands back to his home, Midenhall Castle (time index 12:55).

In Midenhall, there is a Silver Key door in the eastern corridor. But this only leads down to the prison, where none of the doors can be opened at this point. Up in the throne room, Heorot's royal father says that the Prince of Cannock was just here. The prince is actually headed towards Leftwyne now.

In the western part of the castle, there are a couple of Silver Key doors to open. The merchant tells the hero about the virtues of the Dragon's Bane.

Well, now it is time to conclude the search for Cannock's wandering prince. He is in Leftwyne's Inn (time index 19:10). In this playthrough of the game, the Prince of Cannock's name will be Talint, and he will be quite a talented fellow. He will be sort of a priest character in this game with healing magic. In fact, he already knows the Heal spell. You'd think he'd be a little stronger from his walk from Cannock to Leftwyne via the Spring of Bravery and Midenhall Castle, but he starts at Level 1.

As far as the Prince of Cannock's name is concerned, there are eight possible names: Bran, Glynn, Talint, Numor, Lars, Orfeo, Artho, and Esgar. Dragon Warrior II does some fancy calculations on the hero's name to determine the Prince of Cannock's name. For more information, see Presenter's Name Generation Guide on GameFAQs.

In the equipment shop, there is a Lottery behind a Silver Door. If you have any Lottery tickets, be sure to play here.

Talint comes equipped with a worthless Club and Leather Armor. The best equipment to get for him is a Chain Sickle, a Chain Mail, and a Leather Shield. With any luck, you will have earned this much money from roaming the field in search of him. If not, don't despair; it is time to level this guy up. The leveling will not take long, either.

At Level 2 (time index 23:20), Talint gets a small HP boost and a better MP boost. At Level 3 (time index 24:15), Talint learns the Firebal spell. That spell will be stronger than his physical attacks for a while.

For later levels, I take the pair west towards the Lake Cave. At Level 4 (time index 25:00), Talint doesn't learn a dang thing. Heorot reaches Level 9 one battle later.

At Level 5 (time index 23:23), Talint learns no new spells. At Level 6 (time index 27:10), Talint learns the very helpful Antidote spell. The party no longer needs Antidote Herbs to heal Poison, as demonstrated after the battle at time index 28:13.

Finally, the new dynamic duo heads back to Cannock Castle (time index 29:10) to rest up and "tarry while the world is in peril," according to Talint's snarky sister.

Next, it is time to head south to Moonbrooke Kingdom.

Thanks for watching!
