As we continue through Dread Templar's second episode and into the third, the game continues to show more variety in its locales and enemies. Unfortunately, it also shows more of its warts.
I ran into a couple of severe conveyance snags in this part of the playthrough, the first involving possibly the most powerful weapon in the game that really doesn't clearly mark itself as such at the outset, and the second involving a """key""" the likes of which we've never seen in the entire game before. Some of the gaps in sound design are also beginning to become more of an issue - gaps that would not exist had the game taken more careful notes from the 90s shooters it claims to be inspired by.
Dread Templar still manages to be enjoyable in spite of its flaws, and some of the locales are rather cool. But it's unfortunate to see that this is one of the many games that struggles to shine through a pile of deficiencies, rather than a game that clearly stands out for nailing crucial aspects of gameplay.
