Till now, this is probably the boss that took me the most attempts and 90% of the deaths was in the first 5 seconds. The initial attack was just a gamble because I did not have the reaction time to differentiate between the slow and quick variants. It is then I found that by just moving backwards, the horizontal sweep misses you, so it makes you only react to the vertical slash.
After getting through this predicament, I was able to actually practice the fight well, and it wasn't that hard after all.
