I loved and still love this game. Unfortunately, the play I ripped was a little unexpectedly boring when I ran out of cash and couldn't afford more then 3 or 4 waves of attacks. Also the Sandworms didn't appear!! That was a lot of play for not much gain, so I switched to an almost completion of the last level to show what can be done. After that I tried to find Sandworms on ANY level to show those. Not ideal footage to show off this immense game by any means, but that's what happened on the day. There ended up being lots of unexpected sound sync errors with the rip also, which made it harder to keep track of all the SFX, so sorry if any part of the video is not synced very well.
The narration went very well and I made only a handful of small mistakes in the whole of the time, but trying to audio balance all of that talk while trying to keep some sense of a huge battle going on, without drowning anything out, was quite tricky. Again I didn't feel like there was a need to put too many captions in there, as its war and too many notes spoil the visual action. I did wonder why I didn't build any Sonic tanks in the game until I remembered I hadn't built the house of IX to 'learn' it, so I added a panel showing what this structure affords. Most of the wasted time went on balancing the intro music to the review and the animated intro with my voice on some kind of constant level. I also lowered the picture on screen slightly so that the top isn't chopped off on some TV screens.
Update: With all my spare time going through Combat School for the C64, I didn't get time play through this video. So I didn't get to notice some bugs which were inadvertently caused in the final stages of the edit. I played a chunk of the final video through on the day of release and it floored the 'three strikes' rule; and so I went back and fixed about eight bugs: - including two bits of bad narration and several volume related bugs. The volume balancing on this production is not silky smooth as usual so please forgive that. This review was very much a WIP around several paying projects this month.
